Painel Torchwood Calgary Expo 2013

Little resume of the Torchwood panel at Calgary Expo:

John and Eve tell the story about when they were summoned to London to talk about their new series, Torchwood. It was called Excalibur first. lol

Eve was totally nervous meeting John, and shaking. And after the meeting she was convinced that John had fallen in love with her. She didn't know that he was gay. lol

She thought she had to talk to Russell and Julie about that because she had a boyfriend. lol

And then John turned suddenly gay. Gareth: "When I showed up. And I didn't have a boyfriend." lol

They then speak about not being able to share any story fromt he set because they are all too dirty. lol

The moderator talks about interviewing Burn Gorman once and that Burn said exactly that and that it was all John's fault. Eve and Gareth confirm that and even after thinking about it a bit, they couldn't find any story that they could tell in front of the con audience. lol

They blame John, but he says: "Come on, you live all through me." lol

Then when asked if they would do Torchwood again - John repeats that it's in limbo - all three say they would do it.

John is aked about preparing for the Captain Jack Harkness episode and he says that he talked it through with Matt Rippy (he actually forgot Matt's name lol) and was a bit worried when Matt was upset after the kissing scene. But John learned then that Matt was sad because his gay brother had committed suicide a few years earlier. John says he is very conscious and careful when he has to do kissing and love scenes with straight guys, except Gareth. John: "I have known him for too long." lol

They are asked about James Marsters and John says that he is a good kisser but didn't like John's stubbled. Eve loved to be handcuffed to him for several scenes and Gareth loved the scene at the lift, when John called Ianto "eye candy".

They all think that Countrycide is the scariest story. John says that the room where they filmed the last scene was pitch-black when he burst through with the tractor. Eve was creeped out to film the scene where the canibal leader told Gwen when asked why: "Because it made me happy."

Gareth explains that they had a scene changed because it was just too much. It was first planned to have Ianto and the young guy from the village hanging there by their feet and the canibale leader slashing the young man's throat in front of Ianto. But they had the most fun filming this episode (and can't talk about the details lol).

John told the story when Gareth hit his head on the bell (Gareth: "They had to write in the head wound for Ianto."). Gareth actually went back there and was married there. When asked if they had stuff stolen from the set, John says: Jack's book, the sofa and the hatch from the opening in the groupd (Jack's bedroom?). Eve has a table and Gareth took the stopwatch. ;-)

When asked a serious question (Torchwood darker as DW), John instead of answering is totally losing it and starts dancing around with Eve joining in. He then shows off his nerdy underpants to the crowd, front and back. lol (Couldn't see what it was this time but am sure there will be pictures.)

Eve's comment in a theatrical voice: "I wanna go home Have you any idea how it is to work with this man for 6 years?" lol

They are asked how many things you can actually do with a stop watch and John says, looking suggestively at Gareth: "I just let him take the lead with this stuff."

They are asked about working with all the people in costume like the Weevils ect. And John tells funny stories about Daleks with tiny, nice voices during the break until they go back to "Exterminate" and weevils smoking a cigaret with a cigaret holder because it's not possible otherwise with the make up.

John is asked about an eventuel DW spin-off with Jack and River, but saysd that it was just a fun idea between Alex Kingston and him and doesn't see that happen. These things are up to the BBC.

They are asked about singing on set. Gareth: "There was no day without John singing on set and the others joining in. (Scott calls John in the middle of this and he lets him say hello to the audience. lol)

They made songs up and Gareth says that this was necessary to keep the spirit and energy level up for long hours of filming. They also impersonated and made up characters and acted them between takes. Eve was Pamela Plastic Hip and John begs her on his knees to show this to the audience.

Eve really doesn't want to do it but is pressured in it by John, Gareth and the cheering audience. She is hilarious, stalking around the stage, pretending to be hyper during an audition with John and singing a song from Grease. John is almost choking, he laughs so hard. Gareth was the Asparagus Man and jumps around the stage with his whole body completely raid. Hilarious!

John: That's Gareth and Eve and I get naked on set. Welcome to Torchwood!" lol

Eve's last comment before the panel is over: "I really miss it." :-)
